"This is a hugely accomplished choir, demonstrating technical mastery, smooth musicianship, and wonderful phrasing, producing a warm, fantastic sound throughout the range."
The Wellensian Consort
The Wellensian Consort has rapidly established a reputation as one of the United Kingdom’s leading chamber choirs. Its members met whilst singing in the choirs of Wells Cathedral School and were reunited by their conductor, Christopher Finch, to celebrate the School’s 1100 year anniversary in 2009. Since their debut concert, they have received great acclaim for the quality and vibrancy of their performances and have performed to a series of rapturous audiences throughout the country. Since their triumph in the UK's leading choral competition Choir of the Year 2010 the Wellensian Consort has performed across the UK, including appearances at Cadogan Hall, Cheltenham Music Festival, Wells Cathedral, Wigmore Hall, and broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and 2, and on BBC ONE.
Their debut CD was released on the NAXOS label to universal critical acclaim (Bob Chilcott: Everyone Sang). In a collaboration with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Will Todd Ensemble, the Wellensian Consort's second CD 'Footprints', featuring the music of Will Todd, will be released in January 2015.
